As COVID-19 continues to spread like wildfire, wearing a mask is mandatory every time we head out and are in contact with other people. Masks should especially be worn in all indoor public places. At Doctors Eyecare Wetaskiwin, we have made it mandatory to wear a proper mask covering the nose and mouth at our clinic for the safety of our patients and staff. This means you will need to wear a mask when you come for your eye exam and when you pick up your new glasses from us.

However, wearing a mask can make your glasses fog up, and this can be very inconvenient as it hampers your sight and can lead to dry eye. If you already wear glasses, you may have experienced foggy glasses several times while wearing a mask. This fogging happens when your moist breath hits your cold eyeglass lens. When warm moist air (or in this case your breath) comes in contact with the cool surface of the lenses on your glasses, it condenses and causes them to fog up and hamper your sight. Fortunately, there are a couple of easy solutions you can try to prevent this problem. We have listed two effective solutions for you to try below.

1. Wear a properly fitting mask

The first solution is to make sure you have a properly fitting mask. This has to be a mask with a wire around the nose that is appropriately fitted to your face. When a mask fits your face correctly in this manner, it will prevent the moist air from hitting your lenses, and the mask will let the moist air out through the sides.

2. Use FogBlockers Anti-fog Wipes

If your mask is still fogging up despite using a snug one, there is another fantastic solution you can try. That solution is the FogBlocker Anti-fog Wipes. These wipes are a revolutionary new, patent-pending product designed by biotech scientists. The researchers behind this product recognized that natural plant-based nanocellulose is super water-absorbant and could be coated on any surface to actively absorb and prevent fog. By incorporating this substance in its wipes, it can prevent your glasses from fogging up as well.

How to use the Fog Blocker Dry Wipes?

The FogBlocker Dry Wipes are made of an ultrafine microfiber cloth injected with the FogBlocker formula that can be used well over 500 times with effects lasting over twenty-four hours per wipe. It can be used on any kind of lenses and will not cause them damage. To use the wipes, you need to clean your glasses with water or spray them with a lens cleaner first, then wipe them dry with a soft cloth or your regular eyeglass cloth. Next you need to fog your lenses by breathing on them or by holding them over hot water. Wipe your lenses dry with the FogBlocker cloth or wipe, and that’s it! Your lenses will now be fog-free for the next twenty-four hours. Call Doctors Eyecare Wetaskiwin to get your Fog Blocker cloth today - (780) 361-2020.
