How COVID-19 Has Changed Everything
The pandemic changed the functioning of companies and the economy. Most businesses began working online and remotely as people were reducing their interactions with one another. While the trend worked well for most companies, it was quite challenging for work that revolved around interacting with people. As an eye care clinic, we were only open for emergency appointments during the initial lockdown.
We are now back to seeing patients for all types of eye care, including regular eye check-ups, contact lens exams, and eye health exams.
We are back to business as usual, with increased appointment lengths, increased cleaning, and limiting the number of people in the office at one time. We now deal with a smaller number of patients in a day as we have to comply with safety standards and disinfect after each patient, which is time-consuming.
In the past, walk-ins were permitted, but now all services require an appointment. We encourage all our patients to call us, and we will work with them as soon as possible. While our patients might not be used to booking appointments for every service we provide, it does allow us to be a lot more precise with our time when we are dealing with patients as it reduces waiting time, and helps to control the number of people in the clinic at one time. Additional appointment information is available on our website under the “Your appointment information” box in the top right corner.
Our office is now open following our regular business hours, including Tuesday and Thursday evenings. If you have any questions about whether you should be making an appointment, please call us and we will help you decide how to best deal with your problem. Some issues can be solved over the phone. We will consider your symptoms and provide an appointment within the appropriate time frame. If your symptoms indicate an ocular emergency, you will be seen the same day.
We clean all surfaces and equipment between each patient. It is mandatory for everyone entering the clinic to wear a mask. At the same time, we are limiting the number of people that enter the office at a time.
Additionally, we have installed plexiglass barriers at the front desk. All staff in our office will be wearing masks during patient encounters. The entire clinic is cleaned every evening.
If you have symptoms of pink eye, please call us. A doctor will get back to you to discuss whether they can diagnose their condition via a text photo or if it is safe to visit the office for an in-person exam.
Overall, the COVID-19 pandemic has been difficult for most, and we have seen many doing a great job getting through this tough time. We would take a moment to tell everyone that they are doing great and to keep up the good fight. If you are looking for expert advice when it comes to issues with your eyes, you have come to the right place.
